Dandelion

you start out young, full of life
all you see is new and bright
you make your way, you make some friends
you meet some hearts that break
and some that mend
it feels like it’ll never end
you try hard and someone sees you
maybe they cage you, maybe they free you
and going through it you lose something
you say it’s OK, you’ll find it again
then you spend
the next while searching
in the dark and in the light
you look through eyes and blank pages
in good times and dark places
you never went
and it looks like it’ll never end
learning to live with your loss
maybe there’s someone you come across who feels the same
you talk about the times before
singing to yourself in quiet moments
you try to be you, try to open up
making things that have no weight
doing things that you hate
maybe one day the ice just breaks
between you and the friend you made
+ you tell them
it’s empty nothing’s coming out
I’m crying but I don’t know what about
you ask them
will it ever end?
and on your knees, heads together
they tell you it feels like forever
for them too, they show you who
they think you are
you smile like seeing from afar
an old friend
you thought you’d never see again
standing up you shed your skin
like a coat you didn’t know you were living in
faces you were trying to be
beliefs you accidentally were holding
now with nothing to your name
too old an age and memories of pain
you wake up right where you are at
and tell yourself at least you have one good friend
you hope it’ll never end
the days are young and full of life
you don’t let any pass you by
without a kiss, you don’t know who you are
but you can blow a wish
on a dandelion’s head
a wish that it’ll never end
and the pain is real and heaviness
and the lightness inside every breath
and here I am, writing this
wanting to send you a wish darling
I wish that you would be my friend
and that it’ll never end

Ice Cream

Wednesday night you probably want to stay home
but I really need you, I’m feeling alone
we don’t have to go far, I’ve got a car
the clouds have cleared, maybe we’ll see the stars
and afterwards you can hold my hand
and tell me about your new favourite band
cause I’m sitting here in a sorry state
I’m burned by the world and there’s only one way
for me to cool down
and that’s why I need you to come out now
cause you’re a snow queen
you’re a stone machine
you’re a bird on the wing
you’re ice cream baby
mountains of fire, hot summer rain
english radiators, Ponyta’s mane
there’s nothing for it, I’ve gotta be free
I’ll meet you outside down on my knee
there’s nowhere else for me to go
it’s now or never, I’m not going back home
then I see your face through the window
and you wave to me hello
and my mind jumps down the street
and my head falls down below my feet
cause you’re a snow queen
you’re a stone machine
you’re a bird on the wing
you’re ICE CREAM BAB YYY
ooh ooh ooh ooh
I’m not going back home, I’m not going back home
so you’d better listen to the words I speak
I need your esteemed company
I’ll melt into a pile of dreams
if you don’t come down and be with me tonight
that’s the only way to make it all right
cause you’re a snow queen
you’re a stone machine
you’re a bird on the wing
you’re ice cream baby
ice cream baby, ice cream baby, ice cream baby
